Thinking about Making Art

Illustrator, Educator, and psychologist

I often think about my art practice through the lens of the Extended Mind Theory—the idea that our thoughts and experiences can exist beyond the boundaries of the mind itself. I view the process of making art as both a form of communication and an extension of the self, transforming emotions, memories, and internal experiences into something tangible. Each piece begins with a deeply personal story, feeling, or recollection, but once it is shared, it takes on a life of its own. While the work is rooted in my own experiences, it remains open to interpretation, inviting viewers to bring their own emotions, memories, and perspectives to the conversation. In this way, art becomes a meeting place between artist and audience, where personal experiences can evolve into shared meaning.
